Turn Your Halloween Into Hello Clean!

If the cobwebs are forming in your home and they’re not part of the Halloween decorations, keep reading for a few ideas to turn your Halloween into a cleaning dream!

Fake blood or melted chocolate

Whether you or your kids dripped fake blood – ketchup on a sofa or carpet; or you have some melted chocolate on it always remember to act as soon as possible.

You will need:

  • Using cold or warm water soak up any excess liquid by blotting first with kitchen paper towel or clean cloth (tip: never use cold or hot water)

  • Scrape off any excess solids

  • Rub a tiny bit of liquid detergent onto the stain and work your way from the outside of the stain in

  • Blot with water to remove the soap; repeat if necessary

Crushed Sweets

During a kids party, your wee ones are guaranteed to crush sweet treats into your carpet as well as other surfaces, a sticky drumstick lollipop or hard-boiled sweets stuck in your rug, these pesky children can leave a frightening sticky mess everywhere!

You will need:

  • Sponge or cleaning cloth

  • Rubber gloves

  • Hot Water

How to remove:

  • Soak your sponge or cleaning cloth in the hot water

  • Take out of the hot water using your rubber gloves and wring out

  • Apply like a compress on the area

The heat and moisture from the sponge or cloth will help in reducing the dried-on sugar, which will make it easier to wipe away.

Rotting Pumpkins

No we’re not talking about your ex here. Pumpkins have the tendency to rot very quickly, and they ooze a nasty smelling sticky residue wherever they’re placed.

You will need:

  • WD40

  • A scraper or small shovel

  • Access to water

How to remove:

  • Apply WD40 to the bottom of the pumpkin, dispose of the pumpkin

  • Apply a small bit of warm water to soften the pumpkin residue

  • Gently scrape pumpkin residue and pieces off the surface

  • Apply water again to wash away

Messy Makeup

At a Halloween party, most of your guests will be wearing makeup apart from those of us who prefer the more natural frightening look.

Costume makeup tends to be thicker than normal makeup, as most are oil based and tends to smear on surfaces more.

You will need:

  • Makeup Remover (for normal makeup, surfaces only)

  • Cleaning cloth or sponge

  • Cleaning spray (for costume makeup, surfaces, and fabric)

How to remove:

  • Apply makeup remover or cleaning spray (dependent on normal or costume makeup stain) onto the stained area.

  • Clean off makeup remover straight away with sponge or cloth.

  • Cleaning spray, leave for 10-15 minutes, especially on fabric

  • Wipe away with sponge or cloth

Creep it real and give your party guests pumpkin to talk about, I bet you’re all dying to have fun! Happy Halloween! 🎃
